Dr. Horn – Bearing Monitoring Systems

The BDMS alone or in combination with the main bearing temperature sensors can be installed as retrofit during a port stay of a vessel.

The BTMS can be installed in new engines only. The reason is that holes for the sensor probes are needed. Data storage for BDMS starts with first engine operation, compensation values are taken automatically. If a wear situation (values are given by engine manufacturer) is detected, alarms are triggered. Besides distance values, the splash oil temperatures are also taken and compared allowing alarms. The temperature switches in the BTMS have fixed set points; if those are exceeded, an alarm is triggered. The main bearing sensor delivers analog values. The BTMS can be combined with the BDMS system.
